Woman in Trades
4 May 2026

On Thursday, 7th May, we have the privilege to attend the Women in Trades in Ngamotu.

They will send us a bus at 9 am to attend the function from 10 - 2 pm.

I will put up a permission slip shortly. This is only for kotiro within our kura.

Whaea Riri, Marama, Pae, and Leesha will be attending.

Tama will stay at Kura with Whaea Robyn.

The tamariki enjoyed going along last year, as it is a great way to introduce and plant the seed for the future of our kotiro in all trades of mahi.

Chicken Pox and Tummy Bug
23 Apr 2026

We have a confirmed case of chicken pox in our kura.

Chicken pox is a common, highly contagious viral infection that causes a blister-like rash, itchy skin, and fever.

What to look for:

  • The first days can be a fever, hot and cold, and feeling unwell.
  • A rash then appears and starts as small red spots, turning into blisters. Can first be found on the neck, stomach, back, then will spread to face and whole body.
  • Chicken pox is spread by coughing, sneezing and contact with skin. Keep nails short to prevent spreading.

What to do:

  • If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep them home and inform the kura.
  • If your child gets chicken pox they must remain at home until all blisters have dried and crusted over, usually 5-7 days.
  • Ensure plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
  • Contact your Dr if you feel your child needs medical attention.

Tummy bug is also within our Kura

  • Please keep tamariki home for at least 48 hours to ensure the virus has passed.
  • Ensure plenty of fluids.

Please keep communication lines open and let us know if your child is unwell.

Also, please do not send your child with any medications to school unless you have contacted and arranged with us prior, and you have filled out a medication permission slip.

Nga mihi
